In order for this to happen, the program will focus on developing and demonstrating a range of CO2 capture technologies while achieving high reductions in SOx, NOx, particulate, mercury, and other gas constituents as required by CO2 capture technologies.

- Objective: Marketing campaign regarding the EPA’s proposed partial Federal Implementation Plan (FIP) to overrule the State of ND’s State Implementation Plan (SIP) regarding Regional Haze. The campaign would use television, radio, and print ads to request North Dakota citizens to access a Web site and write to the EPA to voice their protests against the FIP during the public comment period, which is expected to begin in late July 2011.

- Objective: To identify usable waste heat sources within a lignite power plant, validate sufficient heat to power multiple 1-2 MWe units and demonstrate the technical viability of generating electricity from one source using Calnetix’s current WHG100 unit. The Coal Creek Station was the original site evaluated by Calnetix. Waste heat is not available at Coal Creek Station for this project and consequently different sites are being evaluated. The project is delayed until an acceptable location is identified.
